On the back of the shining success of the 7th issue of the Glacier Top Brands Return Enhancer, which attracted inflows of R1.38bn, we have launched an eight issue of this structured investment option.  The current issue is open for investment until 25 October 2024 and offers investors the opportunity to earn a guaranteed 20% return, as well as an enhanced return, depending on the performance of the underlying index (The Bloomberg Translatlantic Top Brands Fixed Selection Decrement 5% Index) over a 5-year period.

This opportunity for exposure to global markets without currency risk provides the certainty of a minimum return:

The returns indicated above are before tax. The enhanced return level can only be secured when we trade the investment, and is merely indicative at quotation stage. While we aim to secure the enhanced return level indicated above, it is subject to market conditions and therefore likely to change due to the volatile nature of the underlying . We reserve the right to trade as long as the enhanced return level is 60% or higher. Final levels will be confirmed on your investment confirmation document.

The Glacier Top Brands Participation Enhancer - a new opportunity for slightly more aggressive investors

To cater to a broader market, we have expanded the Top Brands series with the Glacier Top Brands Participation Enhancer.  The Participation Enhancer also offers capital protection, like its counterpart, and in addition, it allows clients to participate in the upside performance of the underlying index by a factor of 2.8.  This means that investors will receive 100% of their initial investment amount, and if the underlying index performs positively, they will also receive 2.8 times the return of the underlying index at the end of the 5-year investment period:

The returns indicated above are before tax. The factor by which the global portfolio return will be multiplied can only be secured when we trade the investment, and is merely indicative at quotation stage. While we aim to secure the multiplication factor indicated above, it is subject to market conditions and therefore likely to change due to the volatile nature of the underlying . We reserve the right to trade as long as the factor by which the global portfolio return will be multiplied is 2.5 or higher. The final factor will be confirmed on your investment confirmation document.

To put the multiplied return of the Top Brands Participation Enhancer in context, it is worth looking at the return outcomes of the underlying index over the last nine years:

As can be gleaned from the table above, the index has provided a negative, or low return (up to 20%) only 0.26% of the time over the last nine years, while a greater-than-20% return was achieved 99.74% of the time.  Its average 5-year cumulative return was 58.45%.
