♦ It is important to note that the fees and charges are deducted from the endowment plan by selling units. This reduces the number of units in the plan. The capital value of an investment is calculated by multiplying the number of units owned with the unit price, so even where a unit price is guaranteed, the capital value of the investment may decline if the charges deducted within the plan exceed the investment growth.
