This Mandela Day, Glacier Giving once again stepped up to bring comfort and dignity to vulnerable communities through a heartfelt blanket drive. With support from across the business, over 150 fleece blankets were collected and distributed to shelters and outreach programmes across Cape Town, all embodying our shared commitment to compassion, connection and community.
A standout moment came on 28 July, when members of the Product Management team visited the HOPE AGAIN Recovery Home in Mitchells Plain. More than just a donation, the visit was a powerful reminder of resilience and humanity. HOPE AGAIN offers a safe and structured rehabilitation programme for young men recovering from substance abuse. The team had the opportunity to engage with residents, hear their stories, and meet leaders from the MOUNT HOPE Church, reinforcing the value of second chances and community support.
Other highlights included:
- TLC Outreach Project, Table View: 20 blankets were donated to teens rebuilding their lives through the centre’s skills development programme. The Glacier team also joined in distributing meals and blankets to the homeless.
- MES Safe Space, Durbanville: MES provides shelter, meals, and support to the homeless. Though they only have 30 beds, their impact is immense. Our donation helped extend their reach.
- Night Haven Shelter: Blankets were delivered to offer warmth to those spending nights on the street.
- Glacier Traverse Community: 40 blankets were distributed to the local community in the area where the Traverse takes place.
- Bottelary Road and Kuilsriver: Remaining blankets will be donated to farm workers and a newly built safe home in Kuilsriver.
